Ruskin Sports College Concert – 26/04/2007

The second annual concert for the 16's and under took place at Ruskin Sports College on 26th April 2007, and once again a packed audience enjoyed a wonderful evening of music.

This year however there was an added attraction as the winners of the first Young Composer of the Year were announced, and the two winning pieces performed. The adjudicator was the distinguished composer Mr Colin Bayliss.

The prize for the senior section went to Rhianne Abberley with her composition "Flight", and ten year old Samuel Kirk won the junior section with his piece "At the Funfair". Rhianne won £75 plus a digital piano and Samuel won £75 plus a voucher for £50 from Merben Music.

Our guests for the evening were his worship the Mayor of Crewe and Nantwich Councillor Howard Curran and The Mayoress Sheila Curran. His worship kindly agreed to present the prizes and trophies to all 7 finalists and both he and the Mayoress expressed their great enjoyment of the evening.

39 performers took part representing 13 local Schools, and 12 different instruments were played plus 1 singer!
