Crewe Hall Concert – 17/09/2007
Our fourth Crewe Hall concert came at a busy time for SCYM and was also attended by the winners of the recent Chronicle competition.
As well as the launch of the CD, "Performances", the sell-out audience heard two World Premiers. One was written by David Ketley for Alex Smith the violinist who is going to Glasgow to study music, with the other written by Rhianne Abberley and performed as a duet with her and Tom Seals, the jazz pianist.
The musical styles varied greatly, from Beethoven to Billy Joel, with a bit of Gershwin and Nat King Cole thrown in for good measure. Instruments were also varied with more pianists, vibraphone, trombone and even a recorder. Performers' ages ranged from 13 to 22.
