Crewe Hall Concert – 15/09/2008
The seventh SCYM concert at Crewe Hall was once again a huge success, and no less than five young musicians made their debut in that beautiful venue. All performed wonderfully well despite some pre-concert nerves, and Ella Healing in particular showed maturity well beyond her 14 years, and astonished the audience with her beautiful soprano voice.
We were able to make two awards to talented young musicians, one to Harriet Grant to help with singing lessons, and a cash award to Rhianne Abberley, see Latest News.
Music ranged from baroque to jazz, stopping off at the romantics and songs from the shows!
The programme also included our first Cellist, Catherine Turner, and the beauty of the instrument was much appreciated by the audience. Laura Moulton and Jessica Adams gave first performances of flute pieces, Matthew Darlington was only the second Cornet soloist we have ever had, and Siobhan Tarbuck played Jazz Saxophone with great style. Another splendid evening of excellent music making.
