Crewe Hall Concert – 26/01/2009
This was our 8th concert in the beautiful long gallery at Crewe Hall, and a packed audience was treated to an evening of wonderful music ranging from Bach to the Beatles.
There were four young musicians making their Crewe Hall debut, - Laura McLennan (Violin), Laura Stubbs (Clarinet), Jack Gresty (Cornet) and Thomas Kelly (Piano). The two girls were somewhat nervous but overcame their nerves extremely well to give assured performances, Jack played with great style and aplomb for an 11 year old whilst Thomas simply astounded the audience with his quite incredible technique for a boy of just 10 years of age. Jamie Spencer (Clarinet) and Emma Spencer (flute) were quite brilliant as usual, Ella Healing, (back by popular request) sang superbly, Tom Seals (Piano) was at his brilliant best, Siobhan Tarbuck (Saxophone) played Gershwin with a sure feel for the music, Jessica Adams overcame a problem with her flute in great professional style, and Rhianne Abberley rounded off the evening with a wonderfully peaceful composition of her own.
We were pleased to have the Mayor and Mayoress of Crewe and Nantwich Councillor Brian Silvester and Ms Sheila Davies as our guests for the evening and they clearly enjoyed the evening and commented on the amazingly high standard of the young musicians.
Once again thanks to the Crewe Hall management we were able to raise money to be used for helping local musicians as well as buying equipment for SCYM and general use.
