Crewe Hall Concert – 15/06/2009

The SCYM mid-summer concert at Crewe Hall was blessed with a fine warm summers evening, and the concert in the beautiful long gallery was another wonderful showcase for some of the most talented young musicians from the South Cheshire area.

Three players were making their Crewe Hall debuts; these were Lara Miller, an outstanding 11 year old violinist, and Edgar and Ellen Thompson playing Piano and Saxophone. Their piece, written by Edgar, was the prize winner for the Jazz category in this year's young composer's competition.

Grateful thanks must go to Gemma Robertson (Soprano) for stepping in at the last minute after one of the booked performers was unable to attend, and it says much of her professionalism that she was able to sing with great confidence and style at such short notice.

Once again a wonderful evening of music making was enjoyed by both audience and performers alike, and over £700 was raised for SCYM funds, all of which will be used to help young musicians in various ways.
