2009 Competition Rules
The composer can either;
- Write a piece of music for one melodic instrument plus accompaniment, or
- Write a piece of music for a wind ensemble consisting of a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 7 instruments with optional percussion.
These rules apply to either choice.
- The piece must NOT exceed 5 minutes in length.
- The work must be submitted as a score on manuscript paper.
- The piece must be wholly the work of the named composer, and the composer must sign his or her work to that effect.
- Copyright will belong to the composer.
- The closing date is 1st February 2009
Additional Rules for the wind esemble.
Instruments to be taken from the following list;
BRASS Cornet, Trumpet, Flugelhorn, Eb Horn, Trombone, Baritone, Euphonium, Bass.
WOODWIND Flute, Clarinet, Recorder, Alto and Tenor Saxophone.
- Any number and any combination of the above list may be used as long as the limit of 7 instruments is adhered to.
- Transposing instruments must be correctly notated.
An additional computerised audio version may be included with the score - this is purely optional.
