SCYM at the Women's Institute

SCYM was invited to organise a concert for the Mercia Link of the Women's Institute at Shavington village hall on October 12th 2008, for W.I. members from South Cheshire and North Shropshire.

There were 22 performers with ages ranging from 7 to 16 yrs, but the opportunity was taken to give as many of our younger players the chance to "shine" in public, so quite a large proportion of our players were under 12. Instruments included Flutes, Cornets, Piano, Oboe, Bass Guitar, Viola, Vibraphone and Drums. There were also a number of singers, and the audience warmed to the young musicians abilities as well as the obvious effort so many had put in to make the evening a success. The ladies even joined in with some of the well-known pieces, much to the performers delight!

Both performers and audience enjoyed a splendid evening, and lots of thanks to the ladies in the kitchen for all the tea, juice and cakes kindly provided for us all.
